UbD Overview
Start Here
The Big Idea of this course is how to create fun and engaging units that result in effective transfer of the unit's big idea. As you progress through the pages you will learn about the three main stages of the UbD process and Template. The are a few additional stages of the entire process; however, they are discussed more in the book. The books that you will need to complete the course are The Understanding by Design Guide to Creating High-Quality Units and The Understanding by Design Guide to Advanced Concepts in Creating and Reviewing Units both are by authors Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe and published in 2011 and 2012, respectively. The books take you through each step of the UbD process and offer real-world application of the concepts. Upon completion of this module you will be able to complete the UbD template for courses that you are designing/redesigning and effectively review existing and newly redesigned UbD courses from other teaching professionals.
